6 Day In The Splendid Rwanda

Day 1:  Kigali City tour, king palace, ethnological Museum,  Nyungwe National Park.

 

After breakfast, you will drive to the southwest through the greenery landscapes and stop over at the King palace Museum where you will take a journey into Rwanda's origins and learn about the Rwandan king's lifestyle. You will visit the longhorn cows, the romantic ones who are always in the king's backyard. 

 

Around 11.30 Am, you will continue toward Butare city (the old Rwandan capital city) where you will stop for visiting the biggest ethnological museum in East Africa. You get to learn about the African tribes and traditional industry.

 

You will continue to Nyungwe Forest and check in at the Kitabi Eco center.

 

 

Day 2: Canopy walks away and goes to lake Kivu for a boat cruise through the beautiful islands.

 

After breakfast, you will walk some 20 minutes in the forest and get your morning challenge by walking above the dark forest on an extended 200m and shaking bridge suspended above 70m. This will be a challenging experience where you will find yourself above the flying monkeys, birds, and tropical trees. The view is amazing!

 

Go for lunch and after lunch, drive some 2.5 hours toward lake Kivu in Karongi. Grab your drink and go to respond to the calling islands. Beautiful and most importantly panoramically green. You will hike Napoleon Island and stand in front of the open thousand hills. You will be amazed by the view, the fruits and the blue monkeys, the birds, and the natural silence from one Island to another. 

 

After that, you will check in at Bethania Hotel 

 

Day 3: Drive back to Kigali and have an afternoon spent in the parliament building, and a visit to the local market.

 

After breakfast, drive some 3 hours to Kigali

After lunch, go to the parliament building which hosts the campaign against genocide for learning about the resilience and commitment of the current leaders who stopped the genocide and brought Rwanda to a significant successful level. The building is old and owned by gunshots to testify to its terrible and unique history among thousands of buildings in Kigali.

 

After that, you will also visit the Kigali genocide memorial and pay respect to more than 250 000 genocide victims.

 

Overnight, check in at Peponi Living Space.

 

Day 4: Akagera National Park

Starting from Kigali early morning(preferably at 5 am) you will drive to Akagera National Park. You will check in at the park around 8 am and register at the park entrance. You will immediately check in at Akagera Game Lodge before going for your long day game drive.

Our Driver guide will order a packed lunch (sandwich, fruits, eggs, juices) and go for a game drive. You will start by the southern part of the park home of Zebra, buffalos, giraffes, antelope, and many other species including a variety of birds.

 Around 4 pm you will retire back to Akagera Game Lodge inside the park.

Day 5: Boat tour and the evening game drive in the height of the park.

In the morning you will drive to lake Ihema, the second largest lake in the country, and get in the boat for exploring the big mammals and reptiles like crocodiles, elephants, buffalo, monitor lizards, and even other species coming to drink.

After the boat trip you will drive back to the hotel for lunch and have some 1 hour relaxing (there is a swimming pool) 

 Later afternoon, go for an evening game drive through the height of the park which not only gives you a rich spot but also a panoramic look above the fives lakes between Tanzania and Rwanda. The sunset above the Akagera water lands gives an unforgettable view of the sunset.

 Overnight, retire in Akagera Game Lodge

Day 6: Long day game drive and exit

After breakfast, start driving from the south to the north of the park. With the chance to see the big five like Lion, Elephants, Buffalo, Rhino, Leopards...

You will exit through Kilala planes an animal and human picnic area where you will get your last selfy of this trip

Over the evening exit and transfer back to Kigali
