5 Days Volcanoes Hiking in Virunga National Park
Whithin this tour you will climb two giant volcanoes and visit their magic and mysterious craters and experience the local tradition and life style. The tour starts from Rwanda-Uganda Border and ends at the same point.

About the Event
Day 1: from Uganda border, village tour in Musanze
Pick up from the Ugandan border and transfer to Musanze and go for a village tour in Kinigi at the volcanoes feet. A short walk in the indigenous village neighboring the Park will be rich in traditional and cultural experience. Villagers are very welcoming and happy to receive new faces. The INTORE dancers are beautifully adorned, with spears in their dance, their hands, shoulder and hips in rhythm from one side to another following the rhythm and sound of the drums, beads and bells around feet and necks to welcome you as a groom or a bride. You will surely enjoy seeing these spectacular specialized dancers.
Over evening check in Fatima Hotel.
Day 2: Bisoke Hiking
After breakfast, go and register at the Volcano National Park rangers office. Get briefed about Bisoke Volcano and start hiking up to the summit. The volcano’s highest point is at 3711m and crowned by a wide crater-water-lake. After a shared packed lunch and a record of selfies in the sky, you will hike down the same day and get at the starting point over evening and retire in Fatima Hotel.
Day 3: Cross to DRC, Goma city tour
After a breakfast take at-any-time, and drive some 2 hour to DR Congo border at Lake Kivu shores.
Before lunch, go for a short tour around Lake Kivu and get a traditional massage in the hot springs. Finish the massage at lunch time and check in the local restaurant before crossing to DR Congo. Around 12.00: Cross to Congo and transfer to Kibumba tented camp. After checking in, you will go for an evening Nature Walk through Volcano Mikeno flanks.
Overnight, retire in the camp ( Classic and High Mid range)
Day 4: Mountain Gorilla trekking
After an early breakfast at Kibumba Tented Camp, you will head down the hill to meet their Ranger guides and have a briefing before the gorilla trek. Treks usually require 1-2.5 hours of hiking each way, depending on location
of the gorilla group being trekked and the difficulty of the terrain. After spending the allotted hour with the gorilla family group, you will make their way back to Camp, enjoy a late lunch and have the rest of the day at leisure, including time for
Nature walks and bird watching . Over evening ritire in Kibumba Tented Camp Ovenrnight you will have a camp fire.
Day 5: Nyiragongo Hiking
After breakfast in Kibumba, you will be transported to the Kibati Ranger Post at 8:15am, departure point for the Nyiragongo volcano trek. On arrival to Kibati, you will receive a briefing and will have the opportunity to hire porters. The climb up the volcano will take around four to six hours and you will overnight on the summit.
Day 6: Nyiragongo Hiking Down and Transfer to Idjwi Island
In the early morning, you will leave the crater rim and start the descent back to Kibati. Average descent time is four hours. Once at the bottom, you will be transported back to Goma. You will go for a local restaurant for lunch. After lunch, transfer to the port and get in the speed boat toward idjwi island. They will have a Village walk before retiring in Hopeland Hotel(Economic-mid range)
Day 7: Boat to Bukavu and Mount Kahuzi Hiking
After breakfast, you will get in the speed boat toward Bukavu City and transfer to Kahuzi Biega for mount Kahuzi hiking.
Included in this package: 2 nights accommodation at Kibumba Tented Camp, gorilla trek permit, one night stay on Nyiragongo, volcano trek permit, all transport from, to kigali and within the Park once in DRC.
